General Description


Sewerage Catchment:

  • Bombo Headland outfall is the discharge point for the Bombo STP, which services the townships of Kiama, Minnamurra and Bombo (MHL769 1997).

Sewage Treatment:  

  • Bombo STP was commissioned in 1984 as a secondary treatment plant that utilizes the intermittently decanted aerated lagoon (IDAL) process. The plant provides screening, grit removal, secondary activated sludge treatment (IDAL) and chlorine disinfection.

Outfall:

  • The treated effluent discharges through a submerged shoreline outfall at Bombo Headland approximately 5m below water level.
